Internet “Scareware” Gang Busted
The FDI today announced a major international ring that was spreading all across the world. The ring was creating scareware that would inject computers. The scareware tells users that the computer is infected and they need to purchase antivirus software. When the users pays the money they actually get nothing and the software stays on the computer.
 
This ring has bilked customers out of more than $100 Million world wide. This should tell everybody that the internet is full of people looking to scam people. All computers need to be running antivirus and spyware protection. If not you will soon be getting one of these pop-ups.
 
Malware Software on Corporate Americas Computer
A new study indicated that more than 50 percent of computer on corporate environment has some sort of spyware and malware installed. The majority of these businesses have software in place to block this kind of software but it is still getting through.
 
That is why we recommend that all computers run antivirus and seperate malaware software. Computer security software is designed to protect computers from only one sort of attack. Computers need to be protected from all kinds of attacks.
 
In a unrelated survey corporate employees are putting own self interest over the company. The survey indicated that employees don't care about security and the privacy of data if it disturbed what they want to do. They will look and find ways around security to assure they have access to sites like Facebook and MySpace.
 
Adobe and Microsoft Have Released Critical Updates
Microsoft and Adobe have released a series of updates this month the fix several flaws. All of these updates are critical and should be downloaded and installed. Internet safety starts with keeping your computer up to date with the latest security patches.

Facebook has announced new security features this week. The security settings are supposed to be easier to use and understand. We will have a full review of these security improvements shortly.
